UK Trade figures
The regional trade statistics have been published for the fourth quarter of 2008. This data is primarily sourced from Customs systems and Intrastat returns adn is routinely described as ‘UK RegionalTradeEstimates‘.
Exports
– The total value of UK exports for the 12 months ending December 2008 was over £247,000 million. This represents an increase of 12.5% per cent over the previous year.
– The number of Exporters based in the UK was 51,385.
Imports
– The total value of UK imports for the 12 months ending December 2008 was £340,000
million. This represents an increase 9.4% over the previous year.
– The number of Importers in the UK totalled 74,983.
The next release of trade figures will be on 11 June 2009. This will include detailed figures for the first quarter of 2009 as well as any adjustments to the 2008 figure.
