UK Trade estimates
The latest set of regional trade statistics has been published for the second quarter of 2009. This data is primarily sourced from Customs systems and the Intrastat returns.
Exports
- The total value of UK exports for the 12 months to June 2009 was £232,411m, a decrease of £3,239m compared to the 12 months ending June 2008. This represents a decrease of 1.4% over the previous year.
- The number of Exporters based in the UK was 50,538.
Imports
- The total value of UK imports for the 12 months to June 2009 was £318,625m, a decrease of £12,363m compared to the 12 months ending June 2008. This represents a decrease of 3.7% over the previous year.
- The number of Importers in the UK totalled 72,465.
The next release of trade figures will be on 10 December 2009. This will include revised data for 2009 plus a new set of regional trade statistics figures for the third quarter 2009.
