PAYE system update
HMRC have issued a further update on the recent introduction of the new PAYE software system. The new system is currently being updated by HMRC staff for data submitted during the transition between the old and new systems.
HMRC remind businesses and tax advisers of three known issues resulting from the introduction of the new system:
- In some cases the correct format of agents’ reference numbers cannot be entered. HMRC are working on this issue.
- A tax calculation will not be issued to any agent where there is also a person acting in some other capacity (for example, with power of attorney). Copies can be obtained by phone.
- There may also be cases where an agent may receive a copy of a notice of code number (P2) for a client, even where this service is not required. HMRC are working on a solution to this.
HMRC asks all tax agents and advisers to continue to submit data and conduct business with them using the normal contact points and routes.
