HMRC service delivery update
HMRC have been working with professional bodies, tax charities and businesses on a number of initiatives to improve service delivery. The group have looked at a number of different areas to improve HMRC’s service to taxpayers.
HMRC have recently published an update which lists some of the successes which have been achieved from the joint initiative including an extension of the trial period for submitting R40 repayment claims electronically to cover returns for the 2013‐14 tax year and changes to HMRC’s Debt Collection Field Force.
There remains work to be done in relation to a number of service areas. A subgroup has been looking at potential service delivery standards for general post, enquiries, VAT registrations, PAYE scheme registrations, 64-8 processing and self employment/Class 2 National insurance registration.
