HMRC contact by phone or text message
In a further communication from HMRC in relation to internet security, HMRC wishes to advice taxpayers that it is trialling new ways to contact taxpayers.
This will include automated voicemail and text messages. As part of the trial, taxpayers may receive a voicemail or text message asking them to call HMRC. HMRC have confirmed that the only phone number that taxpayers will be asked to call as part of the trial is0191 225 5348.
If taxpayers receive messages to contact any other phone number they should report the matter to HMRC’s contact centre. HMRC also confirm that this number is only in relation to contacts from this new trial service, any messages from HMRC officers left in person to contact local offices will have different telephone numbers which remain valid.
