HMRC Composite Payment Scheme for large employers or partnerships
HMRC has set up a scheme to help employers or partnerships who intend to pay self assessment tax by 31 January 2011 on behalf of their employees/partners. Early registration is advised.
The benefit of using the new scheme is that it will allow you to make one transfer payment for all employees/partners rather than send a cheque or make separate payments for each. It will be mainly relevant for large employers and partnerships, in particular those with expatriate employees.
HMRC says:
“The new process will assist Electronic Banking to allocate payments more efficiently, which in turn will mean less correspondence between HMRC and employers and their representatives.”
If you are interested in finding out more about registering for the scheme email the appropriate HMRC office:
Cumbernauld – aoc.directpayments@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk
Shipley – aos.directpayments@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk
Expatriate employers – simon.haslam@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk
Once you are registered HMRC will contact you directly to explain the process and let you know what information it requires.
