CAAT turnaround times for paper based registration forms
In August 2010 HMRC announced that there would be delays in responding to paper forms handled by the Central Agent Authorisation Team (CAAT). This was said to be due to the redeployment of resources to high priority work.
HMRC has now announced that, with effect from 1 November 2010, the turnaround times for requests for agent authorisation, Self Assessment registration and Self-employment registration are beginning to improve.
The table below shows the current estimated turnaround times and, if different, in brackets, an indication of the turnaround times HMRC is aiming to achieve by 31 December 2010.
Forms 64-8 for Self Assessment – 2 weeks
All other forms 64-8 – 6 weeks (5 weeks)
Self assessment registrations – 6 weeks
Self employment registrations – 8 weeks (6 weeks)
