HMRC pension schemes newsletter
HMRC have published their latest pension scheme newsletter. It includes some interesting explanations of how key pieces of legislation will be applied in the current economic climate. The statements refer specifically to pension schemes re-structuring borrowings, security orders and re-negotiating leases.
The newsletter also contains cross references to the key pension related announcements in the recent Budget. These include the planned changes to tax relief for pension contributions made by from April 2011 by taxpayers earning £150,000. And of more immediate relevance, the anti-forestalling legislation in this year’s Finance Bill, to apply from 22 April 2009.
Also covered in the newsletter is the treatment of crystallised rights for certain individuals retiring before the normal minimum pension age.
