Budget 2010 – Air Passenger Duty
Changes to the Air Passenger Duty (APD) rates and destination bands have been announced. The changes will take effect from 1 November 2010 and will take affect for all travel on or after that date. This includes a change in the amount of APD payable for passengers who have already booked their flights for travel on or after 1 November 2010.
The bands are based on the distance from London to the destination’s capital city and are divided into four geographical bands . Each geographical band has two rates of air passenger duty, one for standard class and the second for ‘other’ higher classes of travel.
The new bands will range from £12 for a standard class journey of up to 2,000 miles to £170 for an ‘other’ class journey to a destination more than 6,000 miles from London.
