The money service business register
HMRC have launched a money service business register that can be used to verify that a money service business (MSB) is registered with HMRC under the anti money laundering regulations.
The register is updated every night and includes the details supplied by the business when they registered with HMRC. The register will only supply details of businesses that HMRC is responsible for supervising.
HMRC is responsible for supervising the following four business types:
- Money Service Businesses (MSBs)
- High Value Dealers (HVDs)
- Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSPs)
- Accountancy Service Providers (ASPs)
HMRC point out that confirmation that a business is registered with them is not an endorsement to enter into any commercial transactions with the business.
The money service business register can be accessed on the HMRC website at the following address:www.hmrc.gov.uk/mlr/msbregister.htm
