Updated edition of employer CD-ROM
HMRC have issued another update of the 2010 Employer CD-ROM. It is important that all employers download and install this even if they have already installed the earlier edition of the 2010 Employer CD-ROM which was released in September.
The updated edition addresses some key issues relevant to 2010-11. It is also intended to ensure compatibility with the new ‘Basic PAYE Tools’ which will become available next year. The new tools will replace the Employer CD-ROM and HMRC will no longer send out paper employer annual pack and employer CD-ROMs to finalise 2010-11 and start 2011-12.
The tools will include:
- Employer database on which employers can record employees’ details.
- P11 calculator that will work out and record employees’ tax, national insurance contributions and student loan deductions every pay day with a linked P32 employment payment record.
- A range of other calculators.
- Interactive forms such as P11D working sheets.
- Learning zone.
The update also provides for employers who use the P11 Calculator and have received a P6 from HMRC showing previous pay and tax details or have employees with National Insurance category letter X who are at, or reach pension age during 2010-11.
Employers can confirm that the update has been successful by checking the home page and confirming that the top right hand corner shows ‘November Updated Edition’.
