UK Trade estimates
The latest set of regional trade statistics has been published for the first quarter of 2011. This data is primarily sourced from customs systems and intrastat returns.
Exports
- The total value of UK exports for the 12 months to March 2011 was £273,081m. This represents an increase of 17.6% over the previous year.
- The number of exporters based in the UK was 48,168 an increase of 1.4% from the same quarter last year.
Imports
- The total value of UK imports for the 12 months to December 2010 was £371,062m. This represents an increase of 17.4% over the previous year.
- The number of importers in the period totalled 65,233 representing a decrease of 4.6% over the same quarter last year.
The next release of trade figures will be on 8 September 2011. This will include revised data for 2010 and 2011 plus a set of new regional trade statistics figures for the second quarter 2011.
