‘Top tips’ to speed up agent authorisation
HMRC have issued a list of ‘top tips’ regarding the processing of the agent authorisation form 64-8.
This follows earlier notification from HMRC that the turnaround times for the processing of paper 64-8 forms handled by the central authorisations team will take longer until the 31 October 2010 due to the redeployment of HMRC staff. Where an agent has already submitted a paper form, HMRC request that a duplicate form should not be submitted online as this may cause confusion and further processing delays.
The ‘top tips’ include, using and completing the most recent version of the 64-8 form to ensure that all relevant information is provided, sending the form to the correct HMRC office and applying for an agent code before submitting a 64-8 form. Specific guidance is also given to those seeking agent authorisation re partnerships and to use the PAYE for employersonline service.
