Tax credits and child benefit figures for 2010-11
Draft regulations have been published which increase the thresholds for tax credits, child benefit and guardian’s allowance from April 2010. These changes are as set-out in the 2009 pre-budget report.
Tax Credits:
- The child tax credit child element increases by £20 above the earnings indexation from £2235 to £2300.
- The disabled child element and severely disabled elements rise by 1.5%
- The income threshold for the child tax credit only rises to £16,190 per year.
- The working tax credit elements have increased by 1.5% or have remained the same.
The changes will be effective from 6 April 2010
Child Benefit:
- The weekly rate of child benefit for the only or eldest child will increase to £20.30 and the weekly rate for all other children will be £13.40
The changes will be effective from 12 April 2010
Guardian’s allowance:
- The weekly rate of guardian’s allowance will increase from £14.10 to £14.30
