HMRC website gets a new look
HMRC have begun a process of updating elements of their website to make it easier to understand and more accessible. The Capital Gains Tax section has been changed and new pages have been added to help users more easily navigate the available information on the tax.
The new content has been designed to give additional guidance and understanding to the topic. The main areas that have been updated are as follows:
– Liability to Capital Gains Tax
– A useful step-by-step guide to calculate gains or losses on shares (2008-9 tax year)
– Details of available reliefs and exemptions
– How to notify HMRC if you have made a gain or loss
HMRC have also announced plans to update a number of other areas of the website during 2009. These will include Charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs, Corporation Tax, Stamp Duty and PAYE.
