HMRC training sessions – filing VAT returns online
HMRC is publicising a series of free events around the UK to assist taxpayers register and submit VAT returns online. There will be a number of HMRC employees at each of the locations who will demonstrate how to enrol for VAT Online and other online services.
With effect from 1 April 2010, all VAT registered businesses with a turnover exceeding £100,000 and all newly VAT registered businesses must file VAT returns and make payments online.
VAT registered businesses can file VAT returns using HMRC’s free online software or using commercially produced software. In either case, businesses must firstly register and enroll for the VAT Online service in order to submit a VAT Return online.
The schedule for events between February and May 2010 is as follows:
