HMRC contact centre opening hours
HMRC have issued a reminder that new contact centre opening hours are being introduced from 29 November 2010. HMRC have said that the change has been put in place to allow staff to answer more telephone calls during busy periods.
The main change is that the telephone contact centres will no longer open on Sundays. HMRC found that Sunday opening requires 4.9% (530) of staff resource but handle just 1.2% of call volume.
HMRC plan to redeploy more staff to peak periods throughout the rest of the week. This will mean that the opening hours for the vast majority of HMRC’s contact centres will be from:
|Monday to Friday||8am – 8pm|
|Saturday||9am – 4pm|
