Delays in authorisation of Agents
HMRC have issued new information regarding the processing of the agent authorisation form 64-8. The turnaround times for the processing of paper forms 64-8 handled by the central authorisations team will take longer until at least the 31 October 2010 due to the redeployment of HMRC staff.
The processing time for online agent authorisation will not be affected and HMRC encourage agents to use the online system. However, where an agent has already submitted a paper form a duplicate form should not be submitted online as this may cause confusion and further processing delays.
HMRC have published the following table which lists expected processing times for paper forms from the date of posting until confirmation has been received.
Form | Please allow |
Form 64-8 for Self Assessment | 2 weeks |
All other forms 64-8 | 6 weeks |
Self Assessment registrations | 8 weeks |
Self-employment registrations | 8 weeks |
