Con Doc: Excise: Modernisation and Compliance Checks
HMRC has launched a further consultation document as part of their continued ‘modernisation’ of their powers.
This one looks at ideas for a new and modernised excise checking framework, as well as ways of improving excise administrative procedures, in order to reduce administrative burdens for business. The proposals cover excise duties on alcohol, tobacco, energy products, gambling duties and air passenger duty.
This consultation follows on from the new compliance checking framework which was introduced in April 2009 relating to a range of taxes, including income tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax and VAT.
The deadline for submitting comments is 1 October 2009.
