Changes to HMRC bank details
As most of our readers will be aware, since April 2009, tax payments to HMRC have been gradually redirected to new, non-Bank of England, accounts.
With effect from January 2010 payments made to any of the old Bank of England accounts may bereturned unpaid. This could have a knock-on effect resulting in late payments to HMRC and possibly penalties and interest.
Payments using a Bank Giro will be handled by Natwest and Alliance & Leicester as well as the Post Office. HMRC has updated most of its payslips, however businesses that have payslips containing HMRC’s old Bank of England account details should contact the office that issued them to request replacements.
