Basic PAYE Tools – 2014-15 update
The Basic PAYE Tools software for the 2014-15 has been published. The 2014-15 version of Basic PAYE Tools is an update to the existing version rather than a separate download, so existing users do not need to go to the HMRC website to get the update.
Employers should ensure that they are using the latest version. This can be done by selecting the ‘Options’ icon and then the ‘Application Settings’ tab. Employers using an earlier version of the tools should ensure that they update to the latest version. If automatic updates is turned on, employers will receive a notification when the software update is available.
Since April 2013 the end of year forms – P14, P35 and P38A are no longer required as employers are required to send PAYE returns in real time. In addition the in-year forms – P45 Part 3, P46, P46 (Pen) or P46 (Expat) won’t be sent via the PAYE Online service because employers report all new employee and leaver information as part of their routine payroll processes.
HMRC recommends that employers do not take the update until they have:
- paid employees for the last time in 2013-14
- completed the ‘Final submission for the tax year’
- sent all this information to HMRC.
The new version of Basic PAYE Tools allows users to produce P60s for 2013-14, start the 2014-15 tax year and claim the new National Insurance Contributions (NICs) Employment Allowance of up to £2,000.
